RANDLEMAN — Mr. Ted
Lewis Hollingsworth, 58, passed away at his home
on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
Ted was born on December 31, 1956 in Asheboro, NC the son of Ray and
Myrtle Davis Hollingsworth. He was a graduate of Randleman High School
in 1975 and he continued his education at East Carolina University
where he graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic
Arts. In December 1982 he married Debbie Deaton Hollingsworth and they
made their home in Randleman, NC.
Ted was the owner and creative director of Line Design Graphics for 29
years, as well as a local realtor. He was the chairman of the City of
Randleman Zoning Board, a member of the New Market Civitans, the East
Carolina Pirate Club and a representative for Triad County Pirate
Club. He was also a youth league coach in the city of Randleman and a
NCHSAA soccer referee. In 2013 he was the recipient of the Forever
Pirates Alumni Legacy Parent of the Year award and in 2015 he received
the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant Sponsor of the year award.

Ted is survived by his mother, Myrtle Davis Hollingsworth and his wife
Debbie Deaton Hollingsworth of Randleman, a daughter; Kayla Renee
Hollingsworth of Randleman and son; Robert Ray Hollingsworth of
Asheboro. He is also survived by his sister; Elizabeth Bullins and
husband Roger of Randleman and a brother Kenneth Hollingsworth and
wife Judith of Duncanville, Texas.
Ted was born in Randleman, North Carolina on December 31, 1956. He graduated from Randleman High School in 1975. After High School, he attended East Carolina University and graduated from there in 1979 with a major in Communication Arts.
His professional career began in 1979 and it lead him to 4 different advertising and media firms from 1979 until 1987, including the world’s largest photography studio. He started a business in 1987 called T.L. Hollingsworth and Associates, Inc. which operates under the name of Line Design Graphics located in Greensboro, NC. He has owned and operated this company for the past 26 years.
Ted has been licensed through The Collegiate Licensing Company to produce ECU merchandise for over 17 years. In that period of time he worked with several departments at ECU and involved with the design of a variety of projects. He designed an ECU car for the Nascar Busch Series, the basketball court, the football field, along with several signs, promotional banners and many types of apparel.
His company has an apparel division called LineUp Athletics and sponsored the ECU Cheerleaders from 1996 until 2004. With this sponsorship, he donated all of their ECU apparel and sold apparel at the ECU football games.
Ted was a passionate ECU fan and had held football season tickets for the past 17 years. Since the early 90’s he has been an active Pirate Club member and became a representative for the Greensboro Area Chapter. He was involved in establishing the Ron Pugh Memorial ECU Golf Tournament which is the chapter’s major annual fund raiser. He was working on establishing a new Pirate Club chapter for Randolph County.
He was recently very honored by receiving the inaugural Pirate Alumni award for Legacy Parent of the Year for 2013-14. His entire family has attended ECU: his wife graduated in 1981, his son in 2010 and his daughter graduated in 2015. His son and daughter both began working for the athletic ticket office their Freshman year and remained throughout their college career.
Ted had a strong history with ECU and saw the difference it has made in his family’s life. He was always willing to give back to the school when called upon.
