To all Pirate Club members, Pirate Fans and Supporters

What an exciting 2008!  It is nice to be C-USA Champions in football!  Let’s hope we will be able to do this in the other sports.
I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone who has supported ECU athletics. Your contributions and support are appreciated. We have 222 local members as of the end of 2008; this is still our all time high which we set back in 1999. This year’s theme is The Call to… Championship Excellence.  The Pirate Club has set our chapter goal for 2009 as 235 members. I anticipate that with your help we can reach our goal this year. I encourage everyone to renew their membership and recruit a new member. Just imagine the impact on Pirate athletics if every current member recruited one new member!

By now you have probably received your membership renewal. Please note that the first three levels minimum amount has increased. Your contribution impacts all ECU athletes. Did you know men's basketball, tennis, and golf teams were 1st out 12, 8, & 11 respectively and women’s softball 1st out of 9 in C-USA academic ranking? The overall GPA for ECU is 2.863, which is 5th in Conference USA out of 12 institutions. This is a great accomplishment. Let’s strive to help them reach Championship Excellence.

Please "Welcome Aboard!"  our new TCPC Reps Tom Ropas, Jeff White and Bill Beavans.

You should be contacted by your local representative within the next couple of weeks. Please let them know if you have any questions or concerns. We all look forward to serving you again this year. If you are not sure who your Rep is, please contact me. At anytime if you would like to help us with any event or programs please let us know. We welcome any help or ideas.

Triad Counties Pirate Club News:

As you are probably aware we lost a great Pirate and Rep this year, Ron Pugh. In memory of him and his grand love of ECU Pirates our golf tournament will be played in his memory. This first year will be a low key tournament to pay tribute to Ron. Please mark your calendar for Friday, May 29, 2009 at Holly Ridge Golf Course near Archdale.  All proceeds will go to the ECU Pirate Club in his memory.

Again, thank you for all your support in carrying ECU athletics to Championship Excellence!   GO PIRATES!
